The man was initially sentenced to 16 years in prison by the district court for killing a 50-year-old man in his home last year. The Court of Appeal for Western Sweden has now increased his sentence to 18 years in prison.

A 35-year-old man who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in the district court for a murder in Falkenberg is now getting a tougher sentence, reports Hallands Nyheter.

The man was convicted of murdering a 50-year-old man with a large number of stab wounds in his home in February last year.

The 35-year-old admits that he handed out several stab wounds, but says that it was done as an emergency. He also claims that the fatal stab wounds must have been inflicted by a third person, who came to the apartment after he himself had left.

The district court nevertheless sentenced him to 16 years in prison for murder. Now the Court of Appeal for Western Sweden stiffens the sentence further, to 18 years in prison.
