The second week of April was also not marked by significant changes in the prices of grain goods on the global stock markets, according to the experts of the Sofia Stock Exchange (SSB).

The FOB price of bread wheat in Chicago went lower again, falling $3 to $223 a tonne. France and Ukraine saw an increase of 2 euros and the price was 200 euros per ton and 200 dollars per ton respectively. Russia did not budge from its old price of $235 per ton.

Movement in corn is also minimal. In the US, the price fell by 1 dollar to 191 dollars per ton, and in France the same minimal change was observed, minus 1 euro to 184 euros per ton. In Russia, after a month-ago slump followed by a week of no change, prices rose $4 to $184 a tonne.

The price of barley in Ukraine stagnated at the old levels and remained at $172 per ton for delivery in April. Rapeseed on the Euronext exchange, after long being the only crop with a noticeable upward movement, and reversing the downward trend at the end of March, is now moving up, adding 15.50 euros to 451.50 euros per ton.

Crude sunflower oil contracts on the Rotterdam Stock Exchange have experienced some stagnation since the beginning of the year, followed by a slight decline, an uptrend, then a downtrend, and these days the swings have continued with another rise of $15 to $990 a tonne. Refined sugar for delivery in May 2024 also maintained an upward trend, but this time the rise stalled with a sensitive drop of $22.60 to settle at $628.10 a tonne on the London Stock Exchange.

At the Sofia Stock Exchange, trading in the “Grain” sub-district remained calm and quotations were mainly from the buyers’ side, with the exception of bread wheat, which was offered at BGN 388 per ton, with delivery to the buyer (DAP), and buyers were at BGN 300 per ton. Feed wheat was in demand from BGN 280 to BGN 290 per ton, and “buy” offers for corn were at BGN 320 per ton from the spot. For oilseed sunflower, the interest in buying was from 720 to 730 BGN per ton.

And this week, the prices of basic goods are stable at the same level as the initial prices, writes BTA. Oil in bottles is sold at BGN 2.20 per liter, there is also an offer of yellow peas in big bags of one ton at a starting price of BGN 1,200 per ton.

At the SSB this week there were deals for a wide variety of oils: motor oils from BGN 13,600 to BGN 15,850/thousand liters, hydraulic oils at BGN 7,700/thousand liters, transmission oils from BGN 11,780 to BGN 16,910/thousand liters, turbine oils at BGN 9,200/thousand liters and industrial oils at BGN 5,470/thousand liters.
