Following the drone attack by the Ukrainian army on the port city of Sevastopol in Crimea, Russia’s withdrawal from the agreement to transport grain through the Black Sea will be a big blow to Ukraine. With Russia withdrawing from the grain export agreement, Ukraine will face disruptions in transporting food grains through the Black Sea. This may lead to food shortages and price hikes.

Due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, the export of grain through the Black Sea ports has stopped. According to the instructions of the United Nations, the grain removal was resumed in the discussion held in the presence of Turkey. Sevastopol is the largest city in the Russian-controlled Crimea region. After several drone attacks on Sevastopol, Russia withdrew from the grain agreement.

After the resumption of grain handling, 97 percent of Ukraine’s grain exports went to developed, wealthy countries. Only 3 percent of grain was shipped from Ukraine to countries like Somalia, Ethiopia, Yemen, and Sudan.
