Rockstar Games to Announce Grand Theft Auto VI as Early as This Week

The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI may soon be officially unveiled, according to a report by Bloomberg. Rockstar Games, the developer behind the hugely popular franchise, is reportedly planning to announce the next entry in the series as early as this week. Additionally, as part of its 25th anniversary celebration, the company is said to be publishing a trailer for the game next month.

The last main installment in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, was released in 2013 and is the second-best selling video game of all time, according to Bloomberg. The upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be one of the most anticipated games for the current generation of consoles.

While Rockstar has yet to officially launch the title, some fans may have already caught a glimpse of early gameplay footage. In 2022, a hacker uploaded 90 seconds of gameplay from a test build of the game, showing one of the two playable protagonists, a female character named Lucia, robbing a store. Another clip showed the other playable character riding the “Vice City Metro,” hinting at the game’s setting in Rockstar’s fictionalized version of Miami. Rockstar later confirmed the contents of the leak and stated that the game’s creation would continue “as planned.”

Although Rockstar has not yet revealed the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, its parent company Take-Two had previously hinted that the game is expected to be released sometime in 2024.

Fans of the franchise will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting further details about Grand Theft Auto VI as the official announcement and trailer release are expected in the coming weeks.
