Granddaughter made a walker for her grandfather and won an award

by time news

When Shalini from Patna was 12 years old, her grandfather used to use a walker. It was fine on a straight path but he had a lot of difficulty climbing stairs. Seeing this problem, Shalini thought about how to reduce this problem.
She wanted to make something that would make it easier to use a walker on stairs. With this thought in mind, at the age of 12, Shalini Kumari from Patna invented a solution to overcome her grandfather’s problem, which later won a National Level award. Her adjustable walker, which can be easily used on stairs, is today useful for many disabled people and the elderly. If we talk about the walker made by her, then it has a hydraulic mechanism in its front legs, with the help of which we can adjust it, and also clutches are fitted in the walker and one more very special thing in this is that it has a lever mechanism, through which we can lock its adjustment.
Shalini took the help of National Innovation Foundation to convert this idea into a product and today with the help of NIF, her product has become a part of a company like Vissco with a patent. Many people are buying and using it online. Necessity is the mother of invention and Shalini’s story is a perfect example of this.
