Details of the Rivervale Crash
According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Friday. A yellow Ford Falcon sedan was traveling north on Alexander Road when it veered off the road and crashed into a rental property. Bishnu Kumari Gurung, also known as Himali, was inside the home, asleep, at the time of the impact and died at the scene from her injuries.
Multiple emergency services, including police and ambulances, responded to the scene, and the area was immediately cordoned off. Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are currently leading the investigation. The 36-year-old driver of the Ford Falcon, who was uninjured in the crash, was arrested and is cooperating with authorities. A 43-year-old passenger in the vehicle also sustained no injuries.
A Life Remembered
Gurung was visiting her daughter in Perth with her husband, having traveled from Nepal. Described by her family as “a truly remarkable woman,” she was remembered for her “life, kindness, warmth, and unconditional love.”
A statement released by the family read, “She always put others before herself and lived her life with compassion and generosity. She was the heart and soul of our family, our greatest source of strength, comfort, and laughter.” The family expressed the “unimaginable void” left by her sudden passing and the overwhelming emotional, psychological, and financial hardship they now face.
Gurung’s daughter, Srijana Gurung, initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate the financial burden of funeral arrangements and to support the family as they navigate life without their mother. She described the loss as a time of “immense loss.”
