Taurus Helmets brings another novelty to the market: the world’s first graphene helmet. After two years of studies in partnership with the University of Caxias do Sul and UCS Graphene – the largest graphene production plant on an industrial scale in Latin America -, the brand managed to improve the material to make it viable in the company’s manufacturing structure located in Mandirituba, Paraná. Detail: Brazil has the second largest reserve of the mineral graphite, from which graphene is extracted. In addition, graphene – the world’s first 2D material – is the thinnest crystal known and for being 200 times stronger than steel, in addition to being ultralight.

The first graphene helmet to reach the market was named Graph-X Black, a product of the group’s premium line, Urban Helmets. The cafe racer model goes on sale in mid-March, directly on the company’s website. Suggested price: BRL 989. The helmet has a 2mm visor and air inlets on the top (eyelets). The official launch takes place at the 12th National and International Motorcycle Parts Fair, in São Paulo (SP), between March 8th and 11th.

“We managed to make the helmet much more resistant and lighter. With this innovation, we raise the bar for production and we want to advance so that, soon, all our helmets use graphene instead of ABS”, explains Carlos Laurentis, CEO of Taurus Helmets.
