Gravel is the trendy specialty in cycling and that is why it is not surprising that there is talk of stages with this terrain in the grand tours. According to the French press, the 2024 Tour would have a day with this type of route.

SIENA, ITALY – MARCH 06: Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia and UAE Team Emirates, Julian Alaphilippe of France and Team Deceuninck – Quick-Step & Mathieu Van Der Poel of Netherlands and Team Alpecin-Fenix during the Eroica – 15th Strade Bianche 2021, Men’s Elite a 184km race from Siena to Siena – Piazza del Campo / Breakaway / Gravel Strokes / Dust / #StradeBianche / on March 06, 2021 in Siena, Italy. This was reported by L’est, which was also more precise: it would be stage 9 of the next Grande Boucle, just before the first day of rest. The information makes sense since the route would run through the Champagne region, starting and finishing in Troyes.

The route of the Tour will be known in the coming weeks but, if nothing changes, it is practically a certainty that the popular gravel or sterrato will be present at the biggest event in pedal sport.
