Great Britain and Denmark have agreed to strengthen military cooperation, in particular “to keep Russia from aggressive behavior and other threats.” This is stated in a joint statement by the defense ministers of the two countries, which was published on Wednesday, December 8.

NATO, in their opinion, “must be able to deploy forces in all its regions at the speed necessary to ensure the timely reinforcement of allies in the event of a crisis or military conflict.” Denmark and the UK intend to strengthen cooperation on military mobility through NATO, the Northern Group and on a bilateral basis.

Both countries consider the main hotbeds of tension in Europe to be the use of migrants as a weapon against Poland and Lithuania, the buildup of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea, cyber attacks and disinformation. The ministers in their statement speak of the inadmissibility of “destabilizing actions” by Russia and Belarus and promise that any Russian invasion of Ukraine will have serious consequences.
