Against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday, February 24, announced new sanctions against Russia. “In total, we are freezing the assets of more than a hundred companies and individuals, in addition to hundreds of others against which punitive measures have already been announced. The sanctions apply to all major manufacturers that support Putin’s war machine,” Johnson said.

In accordance with the new punitive measures of London, the amount of deposits that Russian citizens can keep in British banks is limited, a ban is introduced for large Russian companies to raise financing in the British market and restrictions on the export of high technologies and equipment for oil refining to Russia. Similar sanctions will be introduced against Belarus.
