Great chefs and fine wines in the Rheingau

by time news

AThe anniversary edition of all things had to be canceled in 2021 due to the corona pandemic. But neither the organizer Hans Burkhard Ullrich nor his guests despaired: They simply celebrated and enjoyed the 25th “Rheingau Gourmet & Wine Festival” a year later and then all the more intensively. In the meantime, thank God, nothing more has been heard of lockdowns and strict restrictions, and so the gourmet community, which has been meeting every spring at the Hotel Kronenschlösschen in Winzerdorf Hattenheim since 1996, is now preparing for the next feast.

For the 26th edition of the festival from February 23rd to March 12th, Kronenschlösschen owner Ullrich and his daughter Johanna have once again put together a remarkable program of 60 gala dinners, lunches, wine tastings, workshops and parties with chefs and winemakers from all over the world, the awards of the events range between 32 and 1350 euros per ticket. One of the highlights of the 18 festival days in Hattenheim this time is definitely the rarities dinner, where only wines that have received top marks from the American star critic Robert Parker are served. However, there are only very few tickets left for this, just as the particularly expensive wine events are once again particularly popular and are therefore already fully booked to a large extent.

The German three-star chef Christian Bau and “Italy’s best cook” Jessica Rosval have also confirmed their participation in the festival, although these guest performances are already sold out. Tickets are still available for the dinners of the two-star chefs Thomas Martin (February 26), Jeroen Achtien (February 28), Rolf Fliegauf (March 4) and Jochim Busch (March 5) as well as for the traditional lobster -Lunch with Kronenschlösschen chef Roland Gorgosilich (March 10th), the master class with the wines of Château Ducru Beaucaillou and its owner Bruno Borie (March 11th) and also the big closing party on March 12th. The entire festival program and tickets for all events are available at www.rheingau-gourmet-festival.de.
