“A new European club”, titre People’s Newspaper on the cover of its edition this Friday, above a photo showing the 44 Heads of State and Government who gathered at Prague Castle on Thursday for the grand premiere of the European Political Community (EPC). The former leading Czech daily of reference, which has lost its luster since it was taken over by businessman Andrej Babis when he entered politics a few years ago, has therefore not made it into the originality to greet the birth of “this new exchange format”, organized within the framework of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
While another European summit is being held this Friday, October 7, a Council which, however, only brings together the member countries of the Union, People’s Newspaper stresses, however, that this gathering “unusual of Greater Europe, which cemented itself in Prague against Russian aggression”, enabled the leaders of countries such as “Armenia and Azerbaijan, [qui] have long been at war with each other”.
While on the sidelines of this summit the Czech and Ukrainian Prime Ministers, Petr Fiala and Denys Chmyhal, agreed to an intergovernmental meeting in kyiv on October 31, the newspaper also retains the intervention by videoconference of the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky . “According to him, Europe is in a strong position to end the war in Ukraine”, finally rejoicing People’s Newspaper.
