The feasibility study for the “green corridor” project from Azerbaijan to Europe (a project for laying a cable along the bottom of the Black Sea) will be ready by July 2024.
As Day.Az reports on Thursday with reference to Trend, Rolanda Price, Regional Director of the World Bank for the South Caucasus, said this while speaking at a panel discussion on the topic “Improving Connectivity: European Connectivity (Renewable Energy and Digital Connectivity), Middle Corridor (Changing the Eurasian connectivity)” within the framework of the annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Tbilisi.
“We provide support as a multilateral development bank. We know what the government needs and offer technical advice, financing, etc. to be able to make these results reliable. The TPP will look at technical, economic, financial, institutional and legal aspects. The TES of the program should be ready in July 2024. At the moment, this is the most relevant study in the world. There are countries that continue to express interest in being part of this large, ambitious regional project. Thus, this has actually slightly delayed the implementation of this program. but we, of course, will continue to work,” she noted.
Price mentioned that the World Bank expects the project to be considered viable.
“The Bank has already started preparing a second initiative, a second project or program called Strengthening Energy. The purpose of this program is to help in the development and implementation of the green corridor project,” she added.
Note that the theme of the 57th annual meeting, which will be held from May 2 to 5, is “Bridge to the Future.”
The first meeting of the Board of Governors will take place on May 4. The opening will mark the official start of the annual meeting. This is an event attended by honored guests from the host country. ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa and Georgian Finance Minister and Chairman of the ADB Board of Governors Lasha Khutsishvili will make statements.
The annual meeting provides ADB Governors with an opportunity to consider development issues and challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region. The meeting is regularly attended by several thousand participants, including finance ministers, central bank governors, senior government officials, representatives of the private sector, international and civil society organizations, youth, academia and the media.
