Green energy production in Azerbaijan has increased

In January-July of this year, electricity production in the country, having decreased by 0.33 percent, amounted to 16 billion 269 million kilowatt-hours.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to the information of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, during 7 months, electricity generation at thermal power plants amounted to 13 billion 863.7 million kilowatt-hours, at hydroelectric power plants – 1 billion 867.3 million kilowatt-hours, and according to other sources – 538 million kilowatt-hours.

During this period, wind power plants generated 33.3 million kilowatt-hours, solar power plants – 352 million kilowatt-hours, and the solid municipal waste incineration plant – 152.7 million kilowatt-hours. Thus, the production of electricity from green energy sources increased compared to the same period last year (1,327.7 million kilowatt-hours) by 1 billion 77.6 million kilowatt-hours or 1.8 times, amounting to 2 billion 405.3 million kilowatt-hours.

During this period, electricity production amounted to 14 billion 323 million kilowatt-hours by AzerEnerji OJSC (12 billion 590.6 million kilowatt-hours by thermal power plants, 1 billion 732.4 million kilowatt-hours by hydroelectric power plants), 277.7 million kilowatt-hours by the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (116.7 million kilowatt-hours by thermal power plants, 124.2 million kilowatt-hours by hydroelectric power plants, 36.8 million kilowatt-hours in solar power plants), 25.1 million kilowatt-hours at wind power plants by Azerishig OJSC and 1 billion 643.2 million kilowatt-hours at independent power plants.

Electricity exports during the reporting period decreased by 2.4 times and amounted to 522.1 million kilowatt-hours, while imports decreased by 1.4 times and reached 112.4 million kilowatt-hours.

It should be noted that in July of this year, electricity production in the republic increased by 12.2 percent and amounted to 2 billion 711.2 million kilowatt-hours. Electricity imports during this period decreased by 14.2 percent and amounted to 16.9 million kilowatt-hours, while exports increased by 6.4 times and reached 78.9 million kilowatt-hours.
