The Government, through the Ministry for Ecological Transition, yesterday authorized Enagás to take over the gas pipeline network of the Galician operator Reganosa, according to a resolution published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). This operation is part of an agreement –disseminated on February 28– whereby Reganosa bought 25% of the shares that Enagás holds in the regasification plant at the port of El Musel, in Gijónin exchange for transferring its network of 129 kilometers of gas pipelines to the company chaired by Antonio Llardén.

Specifically, Enagás agreed to buy the channel network for 54 million euros, while Reganosa would pay 95 million euros for its entry into the regasification plant. 75% of the new company Musel Energy Hub, which manages the Asturian plant, will remain in the hands of Enagás Transporte, a subsidiary of the company of the same name.

The network acquired by Enagás is included in the main network and, as the company emphasizes, is “key” to guarantee the supply and proper functioning of the Iberian gas market.

This operation had already been authorized in June by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC). Likewise, the regulatory body had approved last February the activation – after eleven years of paralysis – of the Gijón regasification plant until 2026 as an intermediate storage point for liquefied natural gas with a final destination outside of Spain.
