Greens bring the committee of inquiry into discussion

Berlin – The purchase of almost 15,000 apartments from Vonovia and Deutsche Wohnen, promoted by the SPD, is causing a dispute within the red-red-green coalition. The group leader of the Greens, Antje Kapek, does not feel sufficiently informed and is now even bringing the establishment of a parliamentary committee of inquiry into play.

“In the past few days we have repeatedly requested information from the governing mayor and the Senator of Finance about details of the planned purchase of apartments from Vonovia and Deutsche Wohnen,” says Kapek. “Unfortunately, we have not received a satisfactory answer so far.” It is still unclear what structural condition the apartments are in and how much effort they will need to renovate. “It is therefore impossible to foresee what additional financial burdens the state-owned companies will face in addition to the already high purchase price,” says Kapek.
