Off-Duty Greensboro Police Officer Shot and Killed in Tragic Incident
The Greensboro Police Department is in mourning after one of their own, an off-duty officer, was shot and killed on Saturday. Police Chief John Thompson shared the devastating news with the community, describing the fallen officer as a loving husband, father, son, and brother with 22 years of dedicated service to the department and the community.
The tragic incident occurred at the Sheetz on Sandy Ridge Road around 4 p.m. The officer had witnessed a crime taking place and approached the suspects, leading to the fatal shooting. Despite efforts from another off-duty officer and a Guilford County paramedic to save the officer, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
