Grenade seized in pawnshop in Azcapotzalco

Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) capital city guarded and removed a granada Found in a pawn shop in the Azcapotzalco mayor’s office.

The events occurred in a commercial premises, located on the streets Esperanza y Rayon, of the Downtown colonywhere the explosive device was found inside a backpack, the agency reported.

Upon arriving at the scene, police interviewed the manager of the establishment, who said that a man had accidentally broken a window in the business and had left a backpack as collateral to pay for the damages.

He said that since the man did not return, he checked the bag and saw an object that looked like a grenade, which is why he requested the help of the uniformed officers.

For this reason the area was cordoned off while specialized personnel from the group arrived. Task Force Foxeswho removed the device.

For safekeeping, the apparent grenade was wrapped in a special blanket for transporting explosive objects and taken to its facilities located in the Tláhuac mayor’s office.
