Bitter news for TSG Hoffenheim. Grischa Prömel will be missing from the club for several months. He has sustained a serious injury.
A bitter setback for the sporting ambitions of TSG Hoffenheim: The Europa League participant will have to do without its key player Grischa Prömel for a long time. According to the Kraichgau team, the 29-year-old tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during training on Tuesday morning and will be out for several months.
“This is extremely bitter news for us and for Grischa himself,” said Frank Kramer, the club’s interim sporting director. Prömel has “a key role on and off the pitch” at TSG, he added, stressing: “This loss really hurts, especially in the ongoing process of our team growing together at the start of a season with games on the national and European stage.”
Midfielder Prömel moved back to Hoffenheim from Union Berlin in 2022, where he had previously played in the U19 and second team. Last season, he increasingly played his way into the limelight and was even called up to the national team by national coach Julian Nagelsmann. He was on the bench in both of the two test matches against Turkey (2:3) and Austria (0:2) last November.
