The Memphis Grizzlies suspended Ja Morant on Sunday after the star was caught holding a firearm in another social media video that was posted live on Instagram.

This is the second time in less than three months that Morant has been caught on Instagram with what appears to be a gun. The first incident led to an eight-game suspension imposed by the NBA, costing Morant $669,000 in salary.

It was not clear what kind of penalty Morant might receive for the second video, which was widely shared online Sunday. An acquaintance of Morant’s went live on Instagram while the All-Star was in the front seat with another individual, and for a brief moment he is seen brandishing a gun. It could not be established where and when the video was recorded.

“We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said.

The Grizzlies reported that Morant has been suspended from participating in team activities “the league investigation is ongoing.”

The above video occurred when Morant went live on his own Instagram account and brandished a gun at a suburban nightclub in Denver. After the commotion, Morant announced that she was leaving the activity to receive help, although without specifying the type of treatment.

ESPN later reported that he underwent therapy in Florida, something the Grizzlies eventually confirmed without elaborating.

“Ja’s conduct was irresponsible, reckless and potentially very dangerous,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement in March after meeting with Morant and deciding to suspend him. “He also has serious consequences since he is a very recognized and influential player, particularly among the young fans who admire him.”
