O GSI (Institutional Security Office) delivered to STF (Supremo Tribunal Federal), the full images of the Planalto Palace on January 8 and a copy of the open inquiry, interim minister Ricardo Capelli informed via social networks. Altogether, there are more than 900 hours of recordings by more than 30 cameras. The delivery comes after a determination by the minister Alexandre de Moraes which determined, on Friday, the 21st, the breach of secrecy of the images. “I determine the breach of secrecy regarding the disclosure of the images of the 8/1/2023 of the internal security circuit of the Palácio do Planalto held by the GSI, with the sending to this Supreme Court, within 48 hours, of all existing material, observing the full preservation of the images, which will be assessed in a subsequent investigation, for the purpose of preserving the chain of custody”, says Moraes in the dispatch. The magistrate, who is rapporteur for the investigation into the acts of January 8, asked that the material be sent to the Supreme Court within 48 hours. The minister’s request reveals that, even under an open inquiry, the Supreme Court did not have access to the videos in their entirety, which could constitute obstruction of justice.

In the morning, also through social networks, Capelli, had responded to Moraes’ determination, stating that he would send the requested material to the STF and that he would make public all the video images captured that day. Jovem Pan had access to images from the internal security circuit of Planalto that led to the fall of cabinet minister Gonçalves Dias. In the videos, he appeared at the Planalto Palace during the acts of January 8th. Footage from the Planalto security circuit shows Dias walking around during the invasion. In the recording it is possible to see the general walking on the third floor of the palace, in the anteroom of the office of the President of the Republic. Minutes later, he walks down the same corridor as invaders and apparently indicates the emergency exit to protesters.

The material delivered this Saturday had been placed under secrecy by the federal government. On Friday, the 21st, the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, confirmed that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) asked the interim head of the GSI to carry out an X-ray on the body to identify and punish those involved in the acts. of vandalism in the Federal District. “That X-ray has to be done. One of the actions, of the possibilities at this moment of interim, is exactly this X-ray, as the institutions that seek to identify evidence of the relationship of civil servants or military with terrorist acts have been doing, through the Federal Police and the instruments of the judiciary”, said Padilla.
