GTA 6 Release Date Faces New Delay, Potential Price Leaks Emerge
The highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) may be pushed back yet again, according to recent reports, despite Rockstar Games’ initial confirmation of a May 2026 launch. A new leak suggests a potential release window of September 2026, fueling speculation among fans eager for the next installment in the blockbuster franchise.
Rockstar Games first announced a May 26, 2026, release date on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a visually striking first trailer. However, the latest rumors, reported by Tom’s Guide, stem from a source known as “Millie A,” who claims “internal talks” at Rockstar indicate a shift in the schedule. This potential delay follows a previous postponement from an initial Fall 2025 window.
While Rockstar Games has not officially commented on these latest speculations, the possibility of another delay has sparked concern and debate within the gaming community. “Internal discussions suggest a possible slip in the release schedule,” according to the leakster.
Adding to the speculation, Millie A also revealed potential pricing details for the UK market. The leaked pricing structure suggests three editions:
- Standard Edition: Reportedly priced at £69.99 (approximately $88 USD).
- Deluxe Edition: Expected to cost £89.99 (approximately $113 USD), potentially offering early access to GTA Online.
- Premium Edition: Priced at £109.99 (approximately $138 USD), rumoured to provide “first access” to GTA Online.
The prospect of early access to GTA Online for the higher-priced editions indicates a strategic move by Rockstar to incentivize premium purchases, capitalizing on the immense popularity and profitability of GTA 5’s online component.
GTA 6 Projected to Generate Nearly $8 Billion in Revenue
Beyond the release date uncertainty, financial analysts are predicting massive revenue for Grand Theft Auto VI. Investment firm Konvoy forecasts that the game will generate $7.6 billion in revenue within the first 60 days of its launch.
Josh Chapman, a managing partner at Konvoy, shared this projection on LinkedIn, highlighting the firm’s belief in the game’s commercial success. However, this forecast relies on certain assumptions, including an $80 price point and a reported development budget of around $2 billion.
Konvoy’s analysis suggests that GTA 6 could recoup its estimated $2 billion development costs in under 30 days, building significant momentum. The firm anticipates that the game will become the biggest launch in gaming history, breaking records for both copies sold and revenue generated. Analysts have consistently referred to GTA 6 as “the most important game to ever release in the industry,” suggesting a multi-billion dollar revenue figure is within reach.
Despite the latest reports of a potential delay, the anticipation surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI remains incredibly high, and the game is poised to be a monumental success upon its eventual release.
