Ginásio Guanandizão hosts this Saturday (8), from 8am to 12pm, the Judo Festival. The event will have the participation of 180 athletes from the Movimenta Campo Grande Program. Entrance to the site is free.

The dispute between judoka children will be divided by age group. There will be four distinct categories, by age. The first from 5 to 6 years old, from 7 to 8 years old, from 9 to 10 years old and the last from 11 years old and above.

The event is coordinated by DDEL (Sports and Leisure Development Board). Its objective is to bring together students who practice the modality at the centers where classes are offered.

Judo teacher Yuri Lourenço, who offers classes in the Taquaral Bosque neighborhood and Soecon, in Nova Lima, talks about the importance of this festival. “Festivals are always important, it encourages them in sport, it brings socialization through contact with other children, it serves as a learning opportunity for them to have a sense of how they are developing in sport, not to mention that competing is fun, it has that dose of adrenaline involved, and get out of the routine of day-to-day training”.

For Professor Caike Kelltonny, who works at the Jacques da Luz and Ayrton Senna parks, the festival serves to socialize and promote the students’ sporting growth. “The judo festival serves to put into practice everything the child learned during the classes given by the sensei. That’s where it all starts when we talk about a competitive level.”
