Guatemala featured in Thailand’s On Sale Haunted House series
Guatemala Guatemalan coffee continues to make its mark on the world, reaching corners as far away as the Asian continent. From a solar-powered tuk tuk in a documentary by the South Korean band BTS, to the worry dolls in a popular Korean series, Guatemalan culture has captured the attention of diverse international audiences. In addition, Guatemalan coffee earned a prominent place, being sold in the Magnate coffee shop in South Korea, owned by the father of BTS member Jimin.
Another example of this is the curious appearance of a Guatemala jersey in a Thailand seriesshared on social media by the BTS Guatemala fan group. In the series Peaceful Propertyalso known as On Sale Haunted Houseone of the main characters wears a t-shirt that highlights Guatemalan culture. The series, which premiered on August 27, has caught the attention of Guatemalan fans for this unexpected detail that connects Guatemala with Thailand.
Guatemala’s jersey in the series
Thai actor, presenter and model Tay Tawan Vihokratana is the one wearing the shirt. In the first episode of On Sale Haunted HouseTay, who plays Peach, wears a T-shirt with the word “GUATEMALA” in large letters. Most notably, within each letter you can see representative elements of Guatemalan culture, such as a jaguar, the Great Jaguar pyramid and the Quetzal, our national bird. Below the name also appears the inscription “Central America.”
What is the series about and where to watch it?
On Sale Haunted House tells the story of two main characters: Home and Peach. Home is the heir to a wealthy family in Thailand, whose life of luxury is interrupted after the death of his grandfather. Upon returning to Thailand to collect his inheritance, he discovers that he has inherited a house that is rumored to be haunted, preventing him from selling it. On the other hand, Peach is a chef who, after suffering an accident, gains the ability to see ghosts.
The plot thickens when Peach’s sister, a TikToker, records a video at a party filled with ghosts, which quickly goes viral. This infuriates Home, who turns to Peach to ask her to perform an exorcism on the house. The two characters, along with a group of allies, try to deal with the supernatural presences while searching for a true home.
The series stars Tay Tawan Vihokratana as Peach, New Thitipoom as Home, and Jan Ployshompoo as Peach’s sister. It also stars Mook Thawornwong, who plays lawyer Kan.
On Sale Haunted House is available online, and three episodes have currently aired. However, on YouTube, only the first and second episodes are available, allowing new viewers a glimpse into this intriguing story.
