The dog scene in Guatemala was illuminated with an unprecedented event this March 1, when the Guatemalan Dog Breeding Association -Acangua-a federated member of the International Cynological Federation -FCI-, organized the first grooming competition of the country within the framework of International Dog Show 2024.

The competencenow official thanks to the worldwide institution by the FCI, aims to enhance the natural characteristics of each specimen through the art of grooming.

Since the FCI formalized this competition, the federated or associated countries have the authorization to carry it out at the local level. Guatemala, responding to the call for innovation, had its first grooming competition.

The event had the distinguished presence of Mariano Gatica from Chile, an internationally recognized grooming judge, who evaluated the future Guatemalan judges: Ana María Ebrí, Daysi Jiménez and Mario Puente.

These talented professionals have passed a rigorous preparation phase and completed their training during the competition on March 1.

Guatemala International Dog Show 2024

The Guatemala International Dog Show 2024 takes place at the La Aurora Zoo from March 1 to 3, where judges evaluate certain groups and breeds. From guard dogs like Dobermans and Rottweilers to small breeds like Boston Terriers and Chihuahuas, the competition covers a wide range of categories.

In addition, specialized breeds such as Guatemalan Bulldogs, Labradors, Goldens and Terriers are held.
