Every June 30, the revolutionary feat of 1871 and Army Day in Guatemala are commemorated. As part of this commemoration, the institution has organized several activities that began with the raising of the flag and a parade that begins in Plaza Berlín, Zone 14 and will end at Campo Marte.

The Guatemalan Congress approved Decree 72-90, which establishes that the Guatemalan Army is the institution destined to maintain the independence, sovereignty and honor of Guatemala, the integrity of the territory, peace and internal and external security.
The armed institution is divided into land, sea, and air forces, which are classified as the Guatemalan Army, Navy, and Air Force.

GIAMMATTEI: WE HAVE SPARE NO RESOURCES TO SERVE THEM
In this context, President Alejandro Giammattei, in a message, assured that during his government the institution has had his support and has spared no resources to serve them.
“The government that I head has allocated the largest budgets to fulfill their delicate functions, fundamental for the security and development of the nation,” said Giammattei.
Along these lines, he pointed out that the transformation of the institution focuses on benefits and income and is aware that they have not received the remuneration they deserve and will work to continue dignifying actions for the members of the institution. “We are working to advance the dignity of the soldier, now all members of the Army have health and life insurance, during the time they are active,” said the president.

He also pointed out that he pays tribute to the soldiers who have offered their lives in compliance with the constitutional mandate to ensure the independence, integrity and sovereignty of the territory, peace and internal and external security of the country.
