Guatemalan entrepreneurs will be eligible for a scholarship at the AWE

The call for the fifth edition of the Entrepreneurship Program 2023-2024 of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE, for its acronym in English), began this November 13 and this year, according to the United States Embassy in Guatemala, they hope to reach more women so that they develop management skills and thus increase their sales and generate jobs, while contributing positively to the economic development of the country.

The United States embassy, ​​in collaboration with the Rafael Landívar University (URL), announced that the call has been opened to apply for one of the 400 scholarships for Guatemalan entrepreneurs. According to the diplomatic headquarters, the selected interns will participate in virtual training and will receive support from experts to increase their knowledge about planning, sales, administration, finance and business growth through the DreamBuilder platform.

In addition, the participants with the best performance will be able to present their business plan and be one of the 22 seed capital creditors to enhance their ventures and contribute to greater stability, security and prosperity in their communities. HOW TO APPLY?

Interested entrepreneurs must have a startup or small business in operation; minimal computer skills; and, reside in any of the following departments Guatemala, Quetzaltenango, Chiquimula, Huehuetenango, Quiché, San Marcos, Sacatepéquez, Totonicapán, Izabal, Alta Verapaz and Chimaltenango.

It should be noted that registration will be open from today, November 13, until December 15, 2023. The application must be made online at the following link: AWE Scholarship Application Form 2023-2024.

“This 2023, we begin a new edition where we will address more departments, with the aim of being able to impact more lives and thus contribute to the development of Guatemala. This is a unique opportunity that will definitely mark a before and after in their businesses,” said Ligia Chinchilla, implementer of the program.

A PROGRAM THAT HAS BENEFITTED MORE THAN 600 ENTREPRENEURS

A total of 647 Guatemalans from different regions have graduated from the AWE Program since its implementation in 2019. The beneficiaries have increased their income by nearly 60% in the first six months of the program and have generated at least one additional job in the same period.
