According to data provided by the organization, 45% of invitations were directed to women, 57% to people of color, and 47% to people under 40, highlighting the organization’s commitment to “inclusion and representation in the music industry.”

Voting members, which include songwriters, instrumentalists, engineers, producers, performers and other professionals working in the recording industry, will have the opportunity to select the winners of next year’s Grammy Awards at the ceremony on February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

The selection process for new members is done through recommendations from colleagues. Two industry professionals must promote a candidate and then these recommendations are reviewed by the Recording Academy.

Jose Estrada is a composer and sound engineer originally from Quetzaltenango. He began his career in music in Guatemala, teaching himself to play the guitar in his native Xela. In Guatemala City he worked in the sound area for post-production projects in advertising, which helped him discover his passion for the art of music in audiovisuals. With this dream in mind, he moved to Los Angeles to study at the Musicians Institute College of Music.

He has more than ten years of experience in the field of music and audio production. He has worked in film, television, advertising and podcasting. Some of the projects he has worked on are available or have been broadcast on major streaming platforms. streaming and television, such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO, NBC and HBO.

The Guatemalan created the soundtrack for the short film Metaphora project that won the Ícaro International Film Festival award in Central America in 2015. In 2019, he won the Best of Pangea award for the soundtrack of the short film Jalogüin at the InterContinental Music Awards.
