Beneficiaries receive mentoring to Apply for full scholarships at universities in the United Statesas well as leadership training. Support includes ongoing help in obtaining internships and, upon graduation, assistance in the employment process in their countries of origin. The duration of the program is five years, allowing participants to develop comprehensively.

Benefits of the program

She-Can offers support for applying for full scholarships at universities in the United States, which will cover tuition, housing and food costs on campus. It also finances exam preparation classes and other costs not covered by the university, such as passport, visa, flights, textbooks and health insurance.

However, it does not cover transportation within Guatemala to attend preparation classes, medical expenses not included in the insurance, and personal expenses. Requirements and selection criteria

Guatemalan women aged 17 to 20 from low-opportunity backgrounds with academic excellence and demonstrated leadership skills in activities or service in their community or school may apply. Specific requirements include:

  • Passion to change Guatemala.
  • Graduate from high school in January 2025.
  • Belonging to a household with low economic resources.
  • Be a leader in your school or community.
  • Be interested in earning a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. university.
  • Advanced English level.
  • Be among the top five in your class, with scores of 70 points or higher.
  • Commitment to the program from December 2024 to June 2025 to complete pre-university preparation.
  • Good internet connection and daily access to it.
