These road projects are part of the ongoing implementation of a program to reduce social and land disparities in rural areas.
The wali of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, Governor Mohamed Najem Abhay, accompanied by a delegation including the president of the regional council, Mbarka Bouaida, recently launched the work of widening and strengthening the road connecting national road n°1 and the douar Ikeissel in the commune of Abaynou.
Estimated to cost 11.46 million dirhams, the first phase of this project, covering a distance of 10 km, is being carried out as part of a partnership between the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Guelmim-Oued Noun regional council, the wilaya, and the program for reducing spatial and social disparities in rural areas. The total cost of the program is estimated at 38 million dirhams.
The project aims to enhance the road network, improve transportation conditions, and ensure better access to essential services for the local population, while connecting the municipalities of Guelmim and Abaynou.
In the commune of Asrir, work has begun on strengthening the regional road 1304, connecting the commune center to the city of Guelmim over a distance of 3.4 km. The estimated budget for this project is 9 million dirhams.
This project is also part of the aforementioned partnership agreement, with a total cost of 45 million dirhams.
In Taghjijt, the wali launched the construction of a 26 km road connecting Tarkmayte and the commune center, with a cost of 34.812 million dirhams, funded by the regional council.
The project aims to improve access to administrative and social facilities for the rural population and strengthen the regional road network.
In Tiklite, construction work began on a 23.3 km road connecting provincial road n°1308 to the locality of Mnilinte, at a cost of 28.218 million dirhams.
This project is designed to improve rural accessibility, boost agricultural production, encourage investment in the agricultural sector, and enhance access to essential services for the local population.
Ms. Bouaida emphasized the significance of these road projects in enhancing road safety, stimulating economic activities, particularly agriculture, and connecting the rural areas with urban centers.
