Thank you for joining us, Mr. Benbrahim!
Mr. Benbrahim: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here.
Interviewer: Let’s start with the exciting news about the investments in Guelmim-Oued Noun. You mentioned a substantial total of 2.312 billion dirhams going into various projects. Can you explain the significance of these investments for the region?
Mr. Benbrahim: Absolutely. These investments are crucial for the development and rehabilitation of both urban and rural areas within the Guelmim-Oued Noun region. With 866 million dirhams coming from our ministry, we are focusing on important projects that will enhance local infrastructure, improve living conditions, and ultimately support sustainable development.
Interviewer: That’s fascinating. Specifically, you touched upon the various projects aimed at urban development and rehabilitation. Could you elaborate on some of the key initiatives and their expected impact?
Mr. Benbrahim: Certainly! One of the cornerstone projects is the regional development program aimed at revitalizing Guelmim as a hub of heritage and urban life. We are also preserving the historical medina of Guelmim, which is not only about maintaining our cultural identity but also about promoting tourism. Additionally, we’re working on urban rehabilitation efforts in towns such as Assa, Zag, Sidi Ifni, and Lakhsass to ensure they keep pace with modern development while preserving their unique characteristics.
Interviewer: These projects sound ambitious! Regarding housing, you highlighted significant investments. How will these investments specifically address housing needs in the region?
Mr. Benbrahim: The housing initiatives are pivotal in tackling the housing crisis many communities face. The total investments here are estimated to make significant strides in providing affordable housing solutions for the population. This involves not only constructing new homes but also improving existing infrastructure and services, ensuring that everyone has access to quality living conditions.
Interviewer: It’s clear that these programs encompass a comprehensive approach to development. What challenges do you foresee in the implementation of such extensive projects, and how does the ministry plan to address them?
Mr. Benbrahim: One of the main challenges is coordinating between various stakeholders. Since we’re working with multiple government sectors, clear communication and collaboration are vital. Additionally, we must also ensure that the investments are sustainable and beneficial in the long term. We are committed to monitoring progress continuously and adapting our strategies as needed to overcome obstacles.
Interviewer: It’s encouraging to see a proactive approach being taken. As for the local communities, how can residents get involved or benefit directly from these initiatives?
Mr. Benbrahim: Community involvement is key! We encourage residents to actively participate in public consultations and express their needs and opinions regarding the projects. Additionally, job creation for locals as part of these development initiatives will help empower communities economically. Ensuring that the benefits of these investments are felt at all levels is a priority for us.
