The acting president of the Board and general secretary of the PSOE of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, has formally requested the withdrawal of his candidacy for the investiture, scheduled for this Wednesday and Thursday, after the government agreement reached by PP and Vox in the region. This has been transferred to the president of the Assembly, Blanca Martín, in the second round of contacts initiated to propose a candidacy for the investiture, convened after the pact sealed by María Guardiola and Ángel Pelayo Gordillo last Friday.
At the end of the meeting, Vara has transferred to the media his intention, already announced on May 28 after the vote count, to leave the first row of regional politics. “I am not going to be president, nor am I going to be the leader of the opposition, nor will I be the general secretary of the party starting in the fall and therefore that is what I am clear about up to now, the rest is all to be decided, that’s why It is lighter than water”.
