As part of the monitoring and management of prices of consumer goods, the Republic of Guinea, through the department in charge of Commerce, Industry and SMEs, is finally equipping itself with an information and price management system for these basic necessities and strategic products.
The official launch ceremony of the said platform was held this Wednesday, July 31, 2024 in a local hotel, in the presence of members of the government, representatives of consumer protection structures and many decentralized executives from the National Directorate of Internal Trade and Competition.
In his speech, the National Director of Internal Trade and Competition, Emile Yombouno, thanked everyone for their presence before stating that access to quality commercial information by users, particularly those relating to basic necessities and strategic products, is among the challenges of the technical services of the Ministry, including the National Directorate of Internal Trade and Competition.
“The weakness of the technical infrastructure for managing commercial information, the underuse of modern management tools and the limitations of the DNCIC in monitoring prices and making information available have motivated the Management to initiate a project to develop a web-based price monitoring solution called SIMPRIX GUINEE. The objective of this project was to equip the executives of the DNCIC and decentralized services, in order to ensure better monitoring and management of information on the prices of consumer goods and strategic products, through the use of a mobile solution. Specifically, it involved acquiring the IT equipment and platform accessories; promoting the culture of collecting information through the use of modern technical means of management and monitoring,” he said, among other things, before expressing his warm thanks to his supervisory authority.
Unable to attend for family reasons, Minister Dr. Diaka Sidibé was represented by her counterpart for Economy and Finance, who clearly indicated that the launch and operationalization of the SIMPRIX platform dedicated to consumers, executives of the National Directorate of Internal Trade, decision-makers and other users will undoubtedly contribute to promoting a culture of collecting and sharing information in the commercial environment.
“This is why I am particularly pleased to chair this ceremony, which marks a decisive turning point in the implementation of the activities of the project to improve commercial activities and commercial areas. Indeed, the SIMPRIX GUINEE platform is an information and decision-making support system on the prices of consumer goods and strategic products marketed in our country. As such, it allows consumer users to find out about official prices and the availability of products on the domestic market. As for decision-makers, it allows them to ensure the effectiveness of food stocks, monitor price trends and compare product prices from one location to another,” said Minister Mourana Soumah.
