Laayoune – The Bissau-Guinean Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities, Carlos Pinto Pereira, welcomed, Tuesday in Laayoune, the development of the fruitful cooperation between his country and Morocco.
In a joint statement issued following a bilateral meeting between Mr. Pereira and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the two ministers welcomed the excellence of the deep ties of friendship and solidarity uniting the Moroccan and Bissau-Guinean peoples.
They thus recalled the momentum generated by the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Guinea Bissau in May 2015, while expressing the full willingness of the two countries to continue working to provide renewed impetus to this momentum of cooperation and solidarity.
In this context, Mr. Bourita expressed the willingness of the Kingdom of Morocco to support the Republic of Guinea-Bissau in the implementation of the projects and programs of its national development plan, while emphasizing the important role played by the private sector in boosting trade and economic exchanges between the two countries.
In addition, the two parties agreed to hold a Business Forum soon to strengthen Moroccan investments in the sectors targeted by Guinea-Bissau.
Similarly, Mr. Bourita and Mr. Pereira stressed the need to establish a Morocco-Guinea-Bissau Business Council, in order to strengthen trade between the two countries and take advantage of the promising economic prospects linked to the Bissau-Guinean consular presence in Dakhla, which is set to become a center of excellence in regional economic integration.
