Following the breaking and entering of the transmitters of the AfricVision press group, the jamming of the airwaves of the FIM FM and Djoma FM radios, the restriction of Guinean news sites and social networks, and in response to the threats made against the press by the Minister Government spokesperson, Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, the professional press organizations decided today on the following actions:

1-Declare from this Monday, May 22, 2023, Minister Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, spokesperson for the Government enemy of the Guinean press;

2- the Boycott from this day of all the activities of the government and the other organs of the Transition until the lifting of all the restrictions;

4- the Boycott of the National Week of Information and Communication Professions (SENAMIC);

5- Inform and challenge Embassies, the international community, human rights organizations and the HAC on the threats to the Guinean press;

6-A protest march on Thursday, June 1, 2023 throughout the national territory.

Professional organizations reserve the right to take more vigorous action if the Government does not immediately return AfricVision’s transmitters, stop jamming the airwaves and unblock sites and social networks.
These actions will be, among others:

To organize media synergies on the situation of the press
To suspend the participation of the press within the board of directors of the FADEM (Fonds d’Appui au Développement des Médias), the HAC and the CNT.
