Guinea: junta leader dissolves all communal councils

Through a decree made public on the night of Wednesday March 27, 2024 on national television, General Mamadi Doumbouya, president of the transition, dissolved all of the country’s municipal councils.

According to the decree, management of current affairs will be ensured by the general secretaries of the municipalities until the installation of special delegations.

Furthermore, no member of a special delegation can apply for the next municipal elections. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization is responsible for setting up these special delegations.
