It is with great surprise that the citizens of Guinean civil society and democracy, justice and loving freedom learned about the decision of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) to completely lift the suspension of Guinea, which was announced in 2021 after the chop d. ‘état.

The OIF justifies this decision, which has serious consequences, dated September 24, 2024, through alleged “progress” noted in the restoration of constitutional order and respect for rights and freedoms in Guinea.

But what are these advances?

Although the transition is supposed to end on 31 December 2024, no election calendar has yet been published three months before the scheduled deadline.

Regarding the issue of rights and freedoms, the reality on the ground is very different: the junta suppressed the right to demonstrate to citizens who oppose its management of the transition.

More than 60 protesters were killed, including children under the age of 18. Civil society activists such as Oumar Sylla, Foniké Mengué and Billo Bah, Coordinator and Mobilization Manager of the FNDC, were kidnapped and held captive by the junta for almost three months without any news.

In addition, military officers have been assassinated and media outlets closed without the OIF expressing the slightest condemnation or remorse for these serious violations of human rights.

Faced with these overwhelming realities, however, the OIF speaks of “progress”. It therefore appears that this organization supports serious attacks on rights and freedoms in Guinea, including the kidnapping and assassination of civilians and soldiers by the CNRD, as well as the ban on demonstrations.

Civil society and the people of Guinea will remember how complicit the OIF is in the suffering that Guineans suffer and in the confiscation of power by the CNRD.

The National Coordination of the FNDC, on behalf of the civil society of Guinea and citizens who are in favor of democracy, strongly condemns the comfort of the OIF regarding the whitewashing of human rights violations in Guinea and the confiscation of power by Mamadi DOUBOUYA, the head of the Commission. junta.

The National Coordination of the FNDC invites the people of Guinea to show greater courage and determination to fight against the enemies of peace and constitutional order in Guinea, as well as their international accomplices.

Together, united and united, we will win!
