Guinea: The wives of Oumar Sylla alias Foniké Menguè and Billo Bah are worried about their spouses

by time news

Absent since July 9, 2024, the wives tired of living without their husbands, Hawa djan Doukouré and Assiatou Bah spoke out on September 5, the anniversary of the CNRD, the junta in power in Guinea.

In a letter, the two mothers say they have had no news of their husbands apart from the testimony given by their unfortunate companion, Mohamed Cissé, released a few days after their abduction.

Hawa djan Doukouré and Assiatou Bah are calling on Foniké Mangué and Billo Bah to call on the national and international community to address the physical and mental health of the two FNDC leaders.

“Since the kidnapping of our husbands, we have been living with our children in the [mensonge] and the promise that their fathers will soon return from their trip. It becomes tiring and burdensome for us mothers. Psychologically and morally, we never wanted to raise our children in this environment of ”pranks” and ”denial”.

Furthermore, Hawa djan Doukouré and Assiatou Bah deplore the statements of the Attorney General at the Conakry Court of Appeal, the Government Spokesperson and the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic on the case of their husbands. Statements which “denote that our personal pain and suffering cannot be alleviated by our State. But it contributes to breaking our hearts with actions and gestures that resemble an undermining operation to definitively indicate to us that we are second-class citizens. Since the advent of the junta, we have witnessed the numerous compromises proposed by the junta to our husbands and their comrades of the FNDC to the detriment of the convictions that they have defended for years with all the pro-democracy citizens of our country so that we are in a democratic State where each citizen is free to choose their leaders. Not having obtained this allegiance, our husbands are living the price of their patriotic commitment.”
