In Guinea, three leaders of the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC), a front created in 2019 to oppose the third term project of ex-President Alpha Condé, were released on June 13, 2023 by a court. from Conakry. They were prosecuted for complicity in provoking an armed crowd and complicity in the destruction of public and private property. Explanations.

In Guinea, the three leaders of the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC), Ibrahima Diallo, Foniké Mengué and Saïkou Yaya Barry, who were arrested in July 2022 and spent nearly 9 months in preventive detention before being released in May 2023 were released on June 13, 2023 by the criminal court from Dixinn to Conakry.

It is thus a sigh of relief for the leaders of the FNDC prosecuted for complicity in provoking an armed crowd and complicity in the destruction of public and private property.

Justice finally considered that the offense of incitement to an armed crowd was unconstitutional and that they could not be condemned for the destruction of public and private property. The judge therefore referred the public prosecutor and the judicial officer of the State to better appeal.

During the judgment last week, the prosecutor had requested 2 years in prison with a suspended sentence and a fine of 2 million Guinean francs, around €220, against each of the defendants.

On July 28, 2022, FNDC officials called for a peaceful demonstration that degenerated into a clash in several neighborhoods of Conakry.
