New York, September 24, 2024 – Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah brought Guinea’s message to the Future Summit that ended Tuesday at the United Nations headquarters.

In the presence of the CNRD spokesperson, Colonel Aminata Diallo, several Guinean ministers and ambassadors, the Head of Government, on behalf of the President of the Republic, General Mamadi Doumbouya, expressed his country’s determination “to implement the Pact for the Future.”

For a more just, inclusive and sustainable world in peace and dignity, Guinea advocates for investment in youth, equitable access to technologies and the preservation of the Fouta Djallon massif ecosystem.

The “Pact for the Future” to which the world has unanimously committed must reinvigorate multilateralism. In this perspective, Amadou Oury Bah called for strengthened cooperation between States in order to provide adequate responses to climate, security, justice, development challenges, etc. For him, “the future is not something to wait for, but to build together.”

Distinguished guests,
Our deep conviction is this: the future is not simply something to wait for, but something to build together.
On behalf of His Excellency Lieutenant General Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic, the people of Guinea and its government, I extend our fraternal greetings and congratulations to the co-facilitators of our Summit, the Republic of Namibia and the Republic of Germany.
This Summit represents a unique opportunity to transform our collective commitments into concrete and decisive actions.
The Pact for the Future is an ambitious framework to respond to the challenges facing our planet, whether it be inequalities, climate threats, or the need to reinvent our approaches to sustainable development. We
We welcome the role of international cooperation in providing appropriate responses.
Investing in young people and future generations must be at the heart of our action. We must provide them with the means necessary to fully realize their potential in a context where immigration is draining our countries of its resources.
Technological and digital innovations must be used to serve all of humanity, because technology and innovation can only be truly beneficial if they benefit everyone. This is why we advocate for equal access
fair to technologies, while reinforcing ethical issues for its use.
Peace and security, essential elements of global stability, are indispensable prerequisites for any sustainable development. We therefore call for enhanced cooperation between States, aimed at preventing conflicts and promoting diplomacy.
internationale.

Sustainable development and financing for development are essential pillars of this global transformation. It is imperative to adopt ambitious and inclusive measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a country engaged in this dynamic, my country aspires to strengthen international financing mechanisms to enable all nations, particularly the most vulnerable, to progress towards sustainable, resilient and inclusive growth.
In this regard, we cannot ignore the importance of preserving our environment, particularly sensitive ecosystems such as the Fouta Djallon massif. This site, a veritable water tower for all of West Africa, is vital for the ecological balance of our region, where 15 states are concerned. Its protection is not only a national issue, but a collective responsibility. We strongly reiterate our commitment to its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List, in order to guarantee its conservation for present and future generations, and to strengthen global efforts in sustainable development and anticipate to prevent conflicts over water.
Today we have a rare and precious opportunity to redefine our collective destiny. This summit must be much more than a meeting place; it must mark a decisive turning point where we choose, together, to build a future that is concrete, inclusive and prosperous for all.
The Republic of Guinea is determined to actively contribute to the implementation of the Pact for the Future. We believe in the strength of multilateralism and international cooperation to build a world where everyone finds their place, a more just, inclusive and sustainable world.
Long live international cooperation!
Long live multilateralism!
Thank you.
