Zunilda Borrego Martínez, founder of the Federation of Cuban Women in Güira de Melena and worthy of the 23 de Agosto distinction, and Teresita Sánchez Roque, who directed the Organization for nine years in the southern town, were recognized in the Municipal Assembly XI Congress of the FMC.
On this occasion, 80 delegates participated in the assembly and analyzed issues related to the functioning of the organization at the base and attention to women in all areas.
Strengthening delegations and blocks and encouraging the participation of young women in the functioning of the organization were two elements that stood out during the analysis in the Work Commissions. It is also necessary to incorporate the family into the actions that will be developed in the community.
In this scenario, the need to promote food production from urban and family agriculture in patios and plots stood out, taking into account that Güira de Melena has 211 patios declared XI Congress for their functionality.
It is necessary to integrate young women into improvement courses, the Women’s Voluntary Military Service, the Women and Family Orientation House and the rest of the activities that allow them to promote their incorporation and social development to improve the quality of life.
The Assembly was conducive to electing the new secretariat and the candidates for the Provincial Assembly and the XI Congress. Marialis Castro Villafuerte was re-elected as Secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women in Güira de Melena.
