Gujarat Assembly Elections – Early Voting Begins Tomorrow

Voting for the first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections will be held tomorrow.

The first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections will be held on December 5th and the second phase will be held on December 5th and the counting of votes will be held on December 8th. Out of the total 182 Legislative Assembly constituencies, the first phase election is held for 89 constituencies and the second phase election for 93 constituencies.

788 candidates are contesting in the preliminary elections. 70 women and 339 independent candidates are in the fray. There is direct competition between BJP and Congress in all 89 constituencies. As for Aam Aadmi Party, there are only 87 as 2 candidates suddenly withdrew their nomination papers.

25,434 polling booths have been set up for the first phase of the election. Of this, 9,018 polling booths have been set up in urban areas and 16,416 polling booths in rural areas. 38,749 electronic voting machines are also used.

With a total population of 4,91,17,708 in Gujarat, 3,39,76,670 people will vote in the 89 constituencies where the preliminary elections will be held. There are 1,24,33,362 males and 1,15,42,811 females.
