Gulf News: 14519 expatriates arrested in one week for illegal activities

A total of 14,519 expatriates were arrested in a single week in Saudi Arabia, including 7,413 Iqamah violators, 5,398 infiltrators and 1,708 labor law violators, the Interior Ministry said.

Riyadh: Arrests of foreigners violating residency and labor violations continue in Saudi Arabia, with 14,519 security forces arrested in a week of raids by security forces in various provinces, the Interior Ministry said from November 25 to December 1. Of these, 7,413 were Iqamah violators, 5,398 were infiltrators and 1,708 were labor offenders.

The home ministry said it had arrested 381 people who had tried to cross the border in a week, 17 people who had tried to cross the country illegally, and seven people who had provided Iqamah, labor law violators, travel and accommodation and jobs to the infiltrators.

The Interior Ministry has warned that anyone found violating border security rules or being allowed to enter the country or being provided with transportation, shelter or any other assistance or service could face up to 15 years in prison. It also warned that fines of up to one million riyals, confiscation of vehicles and shelter would be made against them, and that their names would be revealed in the local media.
