What is titanium dioxide and why does it do it to the human body?

First of all, we need to understand that titanium dioxide (chemical formula TiO2) is a white pigment used in several products from the most varied segments. Titanium dioxide in the human body

For starters, studies have proven that its particles can break strands of genetic material and damage chromosomes. In other words, this substance is a villain in our DNA.
Additionally, the substance can stay in organs such as liver, spleen, kidney and intestinal tissues and deregulate our immune system, even affecting testicles and sperm. And it can still cross the placenta, being transferred to the foetus.

How can I tell if a product has titanium dioxide?

To find out if the substance is present in a product, just check the packaging and check the list of ingredients. Generally, it can be identified with the following chemical nomenclatures: TITANIUM DIOXIDE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE.

However, unfortunately, as in Brazil the use of the substance has become too much in the industry, consumers may never know how much was used in each product, since it is industrial secrecy and there is no information on the labels.

What foods and medicines have titanium dioxide in their composition?

Titanium dioxide is present in many ultra-processed foods such as dairy products, sauces, creams, beverages, candies, ice cream, toppings, chocolates and confectionery. Juices that usually need dye also lead to the substance.

In the pharmaceutical industry, carbon dioxide is used in manufacturing as a coloring agent for capsules, tablets and films, coated tablets, lozenges, medical sticky tapes. That is, it can be in your vitamin capsule or to color your pill.
