Gunman Arrested after Twin Shootings in Rotterdam
Rotterdam, Netherlands – Dutch police have apprehended a 32-year-old gunman following twin shootings in the city that claimed the lives of at least three individuals. The attacker, identified as a student at Erasmus University, opened fire at a residence before setting it on fire. He then proceeded to storm the Erasmus Medical Center, where he fatally shot a male lecturer.
During the first shooting, a 39-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were killed. Witnesses described the chaotic scene, with sirens blaring and messages flooding in. Barak, a 27-year-old student from Israel, recalled being in a job interview when the shooting commenced. He expressed his disbelief that such violence could be perpetrated by a fellow student.
Another student recounted further details of the incident, stating that gunshots were initially heard on the fourth floor, followed by the hurling of a Molotov cocktail into the education center.
Swift action was taken by elite police units, including snipers, who stormed the hospital. Helicopters circled above the medical center as law enforcement worked to secure the area. Prior to his arrest, the suspect was described as a tall individual with dark hair, dressed in combat gear, and carrying a backpack, headphones, and a handgun.
