Gunpo City will hold the 2024 Residents’ General Meeting hosted by the Residents’ Autonomy Council in 12 districts from Friday, August 23 to Friday, September 6. This residents’ general meeting, held under the slogan ‘Your voice is the future of the village’, is an important opportunity to gather residents’ opinions and contribute to the development of the local community and autonomous activities.
The general meeting consists of various programs such as a pre-event performance, vision declaration ceremony, deliberation on each neighborhood’s self-government plan, reports on residents’ self-government activities, and resolution of self-government plans. In particular, this year, for the first time, each neighborhood will establish a mid- to long-term development plan (vision) and a place to declare it, making the participation of residents even more important.
The general meeting will reflect the opinions of residents who are unable to attend through online voting using QR codes in advance and on-site polling stations, and the voting results will be announced on-site on the day of the general meeting.
A Gunpo City official said, “The residents’ general meeting is a place where residents are not simply beneficiaries of administration, but rather become the main players in establishing and implementing self-governing plans,” adding, “We hope that many residents will participate and work together to create resident participation policies closely related to their daily lives.”
Gunpo Mayor Ha Eun-ho said, “Citizens’ cooperation and participation are the key to Gunpo’s development,” and asked for citizens’ interest and active participation in this general meeting of residents.
