The “3 million euro week” is coming up: In the RTL special with the chance to win big, there will be something new this time.
Günther Jauch is once again inviting people to the “3 million euro week” of the popular quiz show “Who wants to be a millionaire?”, which starts this Monday. It is the sixth edition of the special, which also ends the three-month summer break of “Who wants to be a millionaire?”. On three consecutive evenings, candidates have the chance to play their way to the final on Thursday.
In each show, the candidates play for the million-dollar prize. They can choose between the risky and the safe option. If they reach at least 16,000 euros and are sure of it, they will receive a ticket for the final, where they have the chance to win three million euros. The preliminary rounds will take place on September 2nd, 3rd and 4th and will be divided into topic areas for the first time.
On the first evening, only “smart-asses” will sit on the panel. Then the “Generations U30 and 80+” will follow, and on the last evening of the preliminary round, candidates will have one more “last chance”. What exactly this means is not yet known. In the preliminary rounds, six candidates will sit on the panel every day.
And how can the biggest win in the history of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” be won? So far, Günther Jauch has made an offer to the candidates in the final: if they give up a large part of their winnings from the preliminary round, they can play again – the winnings are tripled. But the candidates can also decide against it and keep their full winnings.
Each candidate automatically has four jokers and a security level for question five (1,000 euros). In the first round of bidding, only money is offered. In the second stage, up to three additional jokers are offered. From then on, any combination of jokers is allowed and as many as necessary can be used for a question. The 50:50 joker alone can only be used once per question.
So far, no one has been able to win the three million euros in the special editions. The “WWM” evenings can be seen from 8:15 p.m. to midnight and are interrupted by a 20-minute “RTL Direkt” at 10:15 p.m.
