Masangsoft will officially launch its remastered third-person action shooter, GunZ: The Duel, globally on Steam on August 13, 2026. The free-to-play release arrives following months of global playtests, introducing overhauled combat balance, removed pay-to-win elements, and modernized quality-of-life features tailored to community feedback.
Originally celebrated for its high-speed movement and demanding execution, the franchise steps back into the global arena with a deliberate focus on competitive fairness.
Global Steam Launch Details and Schedule
The global rollout is scheduled for August 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. PDT, followed by an August 14, 2026, debut at 9:00 a.m. KST, Masangsoft announced. Operating as a free-to-play title on Valve’s storefront, the release targets both longtime veterans and new players looking to experience the game’s distinctive action loops.
Unlike its historical iterations, this version will be free-to-play, removing barriers to entry that previously fragmented its player base. Developers supported the development cycle with months of public playtests, refining the client stability and gameplay balance ahead of the mid-August release date.
Overhauling the Economy and Removing Pay-to-Win Mechanics
The remastered Steam edition addresses this by entirely eliminating pay-to-win elements from the core loop.
Character progression and equipment no longer grant raw statistical advantages. Instead, gear serves exclusively as cosmetic customization, while weapon stats undergo rigorous rebalancing dictated by weapon type and weight categories to cultivate a level playing field.
Modernized Interface and Quality-of-Life Additions
While maintaining the core movement mechanics—including wall-running, acrobatic air combat, high-speed dashes, and the complex input maneuvers known as K-Style
action—the development team modernized the surrounding infrastructure to meet contemporary PC standards.
The update incorporates an adjustable field-of-view slider, redesigned user interface elements, hit markers, damage vignette effects, and refined multikill audio cues. Visual assets receive a fidelity upgrade while preserving the classic aesthetic and control configurations expected by the community.
Community Support, Tournaments, and Content Integration
To sustain active player engagement post-launch, Masangsoft plans to roll out structured official tournaments alongside support for community-run competitive events. These competitions feed directly into ranked matchmaking and clan war systems designed to establish a definitive hierarchy on the leaderboards.

Creator support forms a pillar of the launch strategy, featuring Twitch Drops to incentivize viewership, Medal.tv integration for clipping highlights, and the dedicated LUDENUS CREATORS program. A centralized Discord community serves as the primary hub for player feedback and operational updates.
“This remastered version is the result of several months of direct community feedback. We modernized everything from the combat system and user experience to the UI while further enhancing the unique gameplay mechanics that define GunZ. We have worked hard to ensure that both longtime fans and new players can fully experience what makes GunZ special.”
