Gunzburg doubts that Omicron will be the end of the pandemic

Head of the Center Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg said he was not sure about the end of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Omicron coronavirus strain. He pointed out that there are more and more new varieties of the virus, “endless numbers of new variants”, which scientists have not yet been able to get ahead of.

“We begin to put out the fire when this fire is already burning,” he said.

According to Gunzburg, “it would be completely wrong” to say that with the arrival of Omicron, the pandemic will decline.

“I don’t presume to say that this is the final stage,” Gunzburg stressed.

The head of the Center also said that, according to studies, those who were revaccinated with the Sputnik Light vaccine for three months have full protection against infection with Omicron.
