Immunization with the Russian drug “Sputnik V” and revaccination with its nasal form can protect the patient from coronavirus infection in principle, said Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.

Gunzburg noted that during immunization with a nasal vaccine, an independent barrier is created for the penetration of the virus into the human body.
However, as noted by the director of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, the effectiveness of combining these two vaccines has yet to be studied in clinical trials.
On October 26, the pharmaceutical company Generium developed and submitted an application for clinical trials of the nasal form of Sputnik V, which is injected into a patient through the nose. According to the general director of the company Daniil Taliansky, such a drug is tolerated much milder than the usual vaccine, and in terms of effectiveness it is in no way inferior to the traditional form of the vaccine.
Prior to that, on October 13, the Russian Ministry of Health approved the second stage of clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine in the form of a Sputnik V nasal spray. The research will be carried out in St. Petersburg at the Eco-Safety Research Center. The permit was issued until December 31, 2023.
In August, Rinat Maksyutov, the general director of the Vector Center of Rospotrebnadzor, said that vaccines in the form of a nasal spray could be available to Russians in the fall of 2022.
